New Oak / Tullow Road Youth Project

The Tullow Road Youth Project is a community based youth project based at 48 John Sweeney Park on the Tullow Road in Carlow

What do we do?

Youth workers facilitate a variety of Junior and Teenage programmes from John Sweeney Community House, New Oak Community Center and other buildings on the Tullow Road on a weekly basis to meet the needs of local young people.

The project offers lots of different programmes throughout the year with the aim of engaging local young people in interest based social and personal development programmes such as:

  • Junior Youth Work Programmes for young people in 5th and 6th class
  • Teenage youth work programmes and special interest programmes such as animation, music and arts
  • Day trips
  • Camps
  • Community Outreach
  • Take a Part Carlow, Arts Programme
  • Summer time offers a variety of 3 – 5 day programmes, engaging young people in a wide variety of fun based activities.

The project continues to work closely with local organisations such as Carlow County Council, the Sports Partnership and Carlow County Development Partnership. The Tullow Road Youth Project also works closely with other projects within Carlow Regional Youth Service offering programmes to young people who may need extra support.
